North Mount Pleasant 2018-19
publisher’s note www.NorthMountPleasant.com | www.ParkWestNeighborhoods.com | www.BrickyardHomes.com NMP - 5 N orth Mount Pleasant and strategic annexation are the keys to Mount Pleasant’s continued growth. In recent years, the farthest north annexation was 400 acres north of Wando High School that included Bulls Bay Golf Club. The most recent annexation was East Cooper Lock & Safe’s new building on Highway 17 North. These annexations demonstrate the town’s reach and also prevented Awendaw from expanding south. As North Mount Pleasant continues to grow, the contributions it is making to the lifestyle of all Mount Pleasant is growing as well. This issue of North Mount Pleasant takes us on a journey though the neighborhoods and explores the amenities and lifestyles that make North Mount Pleasant such a vibrant community. We begin by exploring a night beneath grand oaks, where people share the talent of local musicians. Over the past 10 years, Awendaw Green has become the place for music lovers to gather – a unique venue where you can BYOB or pack a picnic. It’s a place where you can enjoy the outdoors, see old friends and meet new like- minded people. Awendaw Green is one of the hidden jewels you’ll discover near North Mount Pleasant. Brian Sherman has brought us a Highway 41 update, which will be of interest to people who live on and near this overcrowded state road or, really, anywhere else in Mount Pleasant. Progress is being made but the finish line is a long way off. You can read the past Highway 41 articles at www.NorthMountPleasant.com . Just up Highway 17 is an array of seaside towns and villages to visit. Enid Spitz takes us up the coast to McClellanville, Georgetown and Pawleys island. McClellanville is just 25 minutes north of North Mount Pleasant, while Pawleys Island isn’t much farther. Living in North Mount Pleasant equals the perfect location for day trips up and down the South Carolina coast. Our editor’s piece on The Center for Birds of Prey is a must-read. Denise K. James couldn’t be more excited about her front cover story. As you can see, Dana Coleman created a fabulous cover, using three separate photos.
